Believe and Achieve: The Secret Governor We Put On Our Lives!
There are two things you need to succeed in life. The two things you need are mindset and skillset. Mindset is more important than skillset because with the right mindset you can learn and do anything you desire. Contained within your mindset is the governor on your life. Just as a governor can put on a vehicle so that it does not exceed a certain speed, Our mind places a governor on what we can achieve. This governor is called our identity.
Who we believe we are and what we believe we are capable of is our identity and our identity controls our entire life. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right.” (Henry Ford). For good or for bad we are our mind but the good news is that we can change our mind. The lies we often tell ourselves and believe to be true end up shaping our future and ultimately our destiny. “We become what we think about.” (Earl Nightingale).
A practice that I participate in daily that helps to properly regulate my identity is the practice of what I call I Believe I AM affirmations.
Examples of these that I use daily are:
I believe I am strong and healthy.
I believe I am resilient.
I believe I am resourceful.
I believe I am effective habits.
I believe I am capable of doing and overcoming anything.
I believe that every day in every way I am improving.
I believe I am a strong will to win.
I believe I am a winner.
I believe that nothing can stop me.
I believe I am able.
I believe I am raising my standards.
I believe I am confident and courageous.
I believe I am unlimited potential.
I believe I am more than enough.
I believe I am living in a universe of abundance.
I believe that I am the power of positive thinking.
I believe that I am unstoppable.
I believe that I am high self esteem and high self worth.
I believe I am what I tell myself I am.
I believe I am enthusiastic.
I believe I am peaceful, joyful, hopeful, and loving.
I believe I am going to experience wealth, great health, happiness, and fulfillment.
I believe that I am the greatest and most advanced creation of the universe.
After providing this advice I have had people tell me they did it once and nothing changed for them. This is because we did not create our mindset in a day and it will take more than one day of reprogramming it for it to change. Start with some positive I believe I am affirmations each day and add to your list as you go. In no way am I suggesting that this is an instant fix but never forget that every olympic runner started our crawling.
It is important over time as well to build your consciousness so that you can more quickly recognize the negative thoughts in your mind as they present and replace them with positive I believe I am’s. Is this worth the effort? Life is a precious gift and anything you can do to improve it is always worth it. What we believe is what we achieve.
I also suggest you begin practicing the positive beliefs you are now telling your mind you believe you are and begin to associate with people who have a higher identity than you do. I am motivated the most by learning, growing, helping and contributing to causes greater than myself.
The purpose of this blog and content is to help empower people with knowledge, wisdom, and confidence. I close with a quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer who was an exceptional force for good in peoples lives. “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
(Dr. Wayne Dyer).
