The Secret To Finding Your Passion

People will often ask me “how do I find my passion?” Now people will tell you to pursue your passion but the problem is that most people have no idea how to identify their passions or an understanding that they have more than one. In this blog post I wish to alleviate such difficulty as finding your passion passions.

“The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek word entheos which means the God within. And the happiest most interesting people are those who have found the secret of maintaining their enthusiasm , that God within.” (Earl Nightingale) The secret to maintaining your enthusiasm is to do more of what you have enthusiasm for. It is enthusiasm that reveals your passion.

Most people are not enthusiastic for example when they are taking out the garbage so it is therefore not their passion. I want to talk a little about my own passions so you can get an understanding of the fact that someone can have many different passions. I am enthusiastic about learning, growing, helping contributing, serving, writing, martial arts, exercise, personal development, spirituality, mindset, attitude, perspective, life hacks, mind hacks, psychology, physiology, philosophy, hand tool collecting, repairing and restoring tools, automotive repair, knife sharpening, leather craft, reading, empowering, coaching, and teaching. How in the world do I know these are my passions?  I know when something is my passion because I am enthusiastic over it. We are all gifted differently but there is no doubt that when engaged in your gifts you will be enthusiastic. 

If you want to know what your passions are then in no easier way can I identify those passions than for you to tell me what raises your enthusiasm. Now of course there will be things that you are enthusiastic about which you cannot monetize but if you take the time to compile a comprehensive list you will find that on that list are things that will enrich the lives of others to the extent that people will pay you for your services. It is impossible to enrich the lives of others in a big way and for you not to become enriched as well.

Go ahead and copy and paste the dictionary and thesaurus content from my MacBook Air to a pages or word document and start listing everything that you are enthusiastic over. When you are done you will have identified your passions. Passion is enthusiasm and enthusiasm is passion. The reason most people have a hard time identifying their passion because they are only focusing on the word passion and not the definition of passion, words that describe the word passion, and the emotion it creates. Everything we do for good or bad creates an emotion and the emotion you are feeling is the clue to whether or not something is your passion. Always ask yourself what are the characteristics of what I seek to discover?
