Holding Court On Yourself!

Life is not going to lower the standards it has for you to become great nor does it sit there wondering if it is good enough for us. We must rather ask if we are good enough for life. I want to talk to you a little about the importance of responsibility and accountability. Blaming everyone for our own shortcomings will never allow us to reach higher levels or come near reaching greatness. Instead of asking yourself why me? accept the truth and ask yourself how you can make your life better? In no way am I suggesting that I have all the answers or am one hundred percent perfect. However, I do get an edge over the average person who has limiting beliefs about life and who they can be.. I am always trying to become a better version of me regardless of my challenges.

Life is not easy and contains within it much suffering. All of our lives will end in death because for all that is born will someday die. We are reminded of this often times when watching an old movie and realizing that everyone in that movie has now passed on. Our time is the most valuable thing we have so it is important that we do not waste it doing harm to ourselves through lack of decision or making decisions that in the end set us further back from where we want to be. This is not a new concept because most of us learned it as children but often times forget it as adults. The concepts I am talking about are accountability and responsibleness.

If you are one of those people that make the same decision over and over while expecting a different result life will continue to show you that insanity does not lead to a successful outcome. Your achievement in life is determined by your standards or what you will accept. Any of us that will tell another that we have life all figured out and everything is just perfect is simply not telling you the truth. All of us have challenges and hardships to overcome but none of our difficulties will ever be overcome unless we step up to our challenges and are willing to grow.

All that we want and all that is great is just on the other side of the pain we must go through to step out of the darkness and into the light. My challenge for you is to hold court on yourself and accept where you are failing while having the courage to do something about it and stop blaming others. People that succeed in life have failed in the past but failure does not decrease their will to win. Our greatest inventors experienced failure after failure but never gave up. "Whether you think you can or you think you can't your right." (Henry Ford).

We often look outside for material things to make us feel better on the inside but material things will not lead us to long term happiness and fulfillment. Start looking outside of you for knowledge and wisdom that will change you for the better on the inside. If you want to experience the ultimate levels in happiness and fulfillment we must in my opinion be learning, growing, serving, and contributing to causes greater the ourselves. As you can see the new car, bigger house, and expensive vacation will not get you there. "We become what we think about." (Earl Nightingale).

Each month hold court yourself and identify where your life can improve so that you are holding yourself accountable and responsible for the direction of your journey on earth. It could very well take years before you see significant changes but do not forget that walking begins with crawling and that running starts with walking. If you never start on a path that leads to transformation years will go by and you will still be the same person getting the same results. Greatness is a skill and no skill can be developed without practice. No one and nothing will change you for the better unless you decide to change you. I believe that the best any of us can become is a work in progress and the amount of years we spend working hard towards progress determines our destiny.
